Methodist Richardson makes list of Top 100 Hospitals in the nation

RICHARDSON — Methodist Richardson Medical Center was named among Premier Inc.’s Top 100 Hospitals in the nation.

The hospital was ranked 13th in the “large community hospitals" category, a first-of-its-kind honor for Methodist Health System that was published in Fortune magazine.

“Our team couldn’t be more proud to have earned this distinction,” says Methodist Richardson President Ken Hutchenrider, FACHE. “This ranking reflects the dedication of our physicians and staff to be the best we can be on a day-to-day basis to serve our communities.”

For over 30 years, Premier has been ranking the Top 100 Hospitals based on an objective, quantitative analysis of public data. The primary purpose of the program is to inspire hospitals to pursue higher performance and deliver added value to patients and communities.

By shining a light on the nation's highest performing hospitals, Premier’s quantitative studies give health system leaders the ability to compare their performance to that of their competitors, using objective, reliable and significant indicators of operational excellence.

According to Premier, if every hospital in the nation met its Top 100 benchmarks:

- 330,000 additional lives could be saved

- More than 600,000 additional patients could have outcomes free of complications

- Over $15 billion in in-patient costs could be saved

- The typical patient could be released from the hospital a half-day sooner

- 13,000 fewer discharged patients would be readmitted to the hospital within the next 30 days
