Methodist Southlake expands emergency room to better serve patients

SOUTHLAKE — Methodist Southlake Medical Center is now welcoming patients to its newly expanded emergency room. The 5,000-square-foot extension quadruples the size of the current ER, provide a larger patient waiting area, and enhance diagnostic capabilities.

“This emergency department expansion is one of several key investments the health system is making in Methodist Southlake this year,” said Chief Executive Officer James C. Scoggin, Jr. “Methodist is committed to being the trusted choice for health and wellness for families in Southlake and the surrounding communities.”

The expanded emergency department advances Methodist Southlake's journey to become a full-service, acute-care hospital, following its addition to Methodist Health System as a wholly owned facility in June 2021.

“Growing Methodist Southlake is important to me professionally, but it is also important to me personally,” says President and Chief Operating Officer Pam Stoyanoff, MBA, CPA, FACHE. “I have lived in Southlake for 15 years now, and my husband Mike and I raised our kids here. We know how special these communities are.”

The expansion includes many necessary upgrades that will give patients the access to new capabilities including nuclear medicine and a resuscitation bay. The emergency department offers services in abdominal pain, orthopedics, OBGYN, chest pain, infection, sutures, and stabilization.

“We’ve built an amazing team for our patients at Methodist Southlake,” Methodist Southlake Medical Center President Benson Chacko said. “The emergency department acts as our new front door to the community. We are so grateful to be able to provide new capabilities that include nuclear medicine, critical care tele-medicine consultations, and upgraded cardiac monitoring. We are excited to serve our community with these new services.”

The emergency department expansion at Methodist Southlake will now enter phase two of the construction plans to renovate the existing emergency room. The entire emergency room is expected to open in January 2023.
