Six Methodist Mansfield staff honored with healthcare awards

Recognized for their heeling spirit with 2017 Excellence in Nursing, The Great 100 Nurses, and 2017 Healthcare Heroes Awards

Methodist Mansfield Medical Center is pleased to announce that six hospital staff members have received award recognition as outstanding care givers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Three nurses received 2017 Excellence in Nursing awards including Ashley Bolen, Leslie Dillard and Katie Mosteller. Two employees Janice Womble and Samir Nangia, MD, were honored as Healthcare Heroes and Ethel Tate was honored as a Great 100.

Ashley Bolen, BSN, RN-ONC, Nurse Navigator oversees the Joint and Spine academies, and bariatric program at Methodist Mansfield. She prepares patients for what to expect during the surgical procedure, hospital stay and home recovery. She leads support groups and is loved by her patients. She educates each patient she comes in contact with and develops the curriculum to make their surgery and recovery as easy as possible. Additionally, she frequently educates new hires and patient care technicians on the medical-surgical floor informing them of the procedures and expectations. She also serves the community leading lunch and learns to teach future patients and the community about nutrition, spine and joint prevention.

Leslie Dillard, BSN, RN, CWON, CFCN, Wound Care Clinician serves as the primary wound care clinician at Methodist Mansfield. She is a shining light in the lives of her patients and often sees patients at the end of life and ministers to them throughout that time while she is tending to their wounds and ostomies. Because of her contributions to patients, the wound center was awarded the center of excellence having achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent, a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 31 days, along with several other quality standards for two years in a row.

Katie Mosteller, BSN, RN, Nurse Patient Navigator, Chronic Care serves as a nurse navigator for the Delivery Systems Reform Incentive Payment program. She is responsible for identifying and providing free diabetes education to clients who are underinsured and need assistance with managing their medications. She provides free resources, follows-up telephone calls with patients and provides free education based on feedback from the community.

Ethel Tate, RN, RNC-NIC, was honored as a Great 100 Nurse. She was recognized for her excellence in the art and science of nursing. She nurtures neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) babies and is a compassionate caregiver and community servant.

Methodist Mansfield volunteer Janice Womble and nephrologist Samir Nangia, MD, FASM, on the hospital’s medical staff, were chosen as Fort Worth Business Press HealthCare Heroes. They were among 22 healthcare professionals in Tarrant County chosen for their excellence in the medical community, quality of service, and demonstration of exceptional commitment to the health and well-being of patients.

“I am extremely proud of these six honorees and the care they provide our patients at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center,” said John Phillips, FACHE, President. “These awards recognize the extraordinary expertise, passion and commitment to excellent care our staff consistently provides our patients and the communities we serve.”
