Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program

Designed to address issues surrounding addiction recovery on an outpatient basis

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 6 to 9 p.m.

The Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program at Methodist Richardson Medical Center is designed to address the issues surrounding addiction recovery on an outpatient basis with daily therapeutic support while allowing for day-to-day activities, such as work and family time.

Structured Group Counseling and Skills Training

  • Education on substance dependence disease concept/progression/management
  • Education and skills training for the maintenance of sobriety
  • Education and skills training for relapse prevention
  • Sober living skills
  • Weekly session for the family, significant others, and/or supportive friends are offered as an ongoing part of the curriculum

The program is designed to promote recovery in the least restrictive environment. The full program consists of 24 to 30 three-hour sessions and is offered in the evening to meet patients' scheduling needs. The program supports the 12-step philosophy, and patients are expected to secure a "sponsor" and attend AA and/or NA meetings. An important part of recovery for the addicted individual is a supportive, structured and goal-directed environment.

Once completed, patients are encouraged to attend our Saturday aftercare and continue with a 12-step program.
