Chief Executive Officer, Methodist Health System
James C. Scoggin, Jr. joined Methodist Health System in April 2019 as the organization's CEO. Upon graduating from Texas A&M University (BBA/Finance), Scoggin's healthcare career started in 1980 with Humana. After seven years with Humana in positions including hospital chief financial officer and chief operating officer, he joined Methodist Hospital in San Antonio as chief operating officer in 1987 where he served for eight years until the formation of Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio in 1995. At that time, he was appointed CEO of Methodist Hospital in San Antonio and later assumed responsibility as CEO for two additional hospitals. In 2000, Scoggin became executive vice president of the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio. After six years in that role, he was promoted to president of the North Texas Division of HCA (now Medical City Healthcare), a position he held until September 2013. After a five plus year retirement he answered the “calling” to serve again and has never looked back. Scoggin has been married to his wife Missy for 43 years and has two grown children and five grandchildren.
President and Chief Operating Officer, Methodist Health System
Pamela Stoyanoff, MBA, CPA and FACHE is currently President and Chief Operating Officer for the 10 hospital Methodist Health System in Dallas, Texas. In that role she is leads strategic planning for the system and provides operational leadership for its hospitals, joint ventures and medical group. She is passionate about the Quadruple Aim and improving health by leading efforts that help to reduce health disparities.
She has been a member of numerous Boards and current serves on the Dallas Ft. Worth Hospital Council Education and Foundation Board, Business Council for the Arts Board and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Finance Committee.
Prior to coming to Dallas, Stoyanoff was the Chief Financial Officer for the St. Vincent Health System (4 hospitals) in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is originally from Chicago, Illinois and began her career at Arthur Anderson & Co.
Stoyanoff has her BS in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, is a CPA and has her Masters degree from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management in Lake Forest, Illinois. She is also a FACHE.
Stoyanoff has spoken around the country on many topics including revenue cycle management, robotics, cost reduction strategies and diversity in healthcare supply procurement.
She has been voted one of the top “100 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review , one of the top 25 Women in Business in Dallas/Ft. Worth by the Dallas Business Journal and was also selected by the Dallas Business Journal as a Health Care Hero (in recognition of contributions toward improving health care in North Texas).
Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Methodist Health System
Mickey Price has served as chief legal officer and executive vice president for legal affairs at Methodist Health System since 2000. He provides legal counsel on various business and health law matters to our management and various boards including our corporate board of directors. He also oversees our legal affairs department and corporate risk management team, and directs our business ethics committee.
Price's past professional roles include assistant general counsel at Baylor Health Care System and partner with the firm Burford & Ryburn, LLP. He is licensed by the State Bar of Texas, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. His memberships include the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the Dallas Bar Association.
Price graduated cum laude from West Chester State University in Pennsylvania, and received his law degree from Baylor University School of Law in Waco, Texas.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Methodist Health System
Craig has been with Methodist Health System since 2016, originally joining the organization as the system Senior Vice President of Finance. Prior to Methodist, Bjerke was a system vice president and controller for OhioHealth in Columbus, Ohio from 2002 to 2016. Bjerke is a certified public accountant and worked at Ernst and Young and Arthur Andersen in their audit practices prior to joining OhioHealth.
Bjerke earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer
Pam McNutt is senior vice president and chief information officer for Methodist Health System. McNutt's experience in the field of health care information technology spans nearly 30 years, the last 18 of which have been in the role of CIO at Methodist. Prior to joining Methodist in 1993, she worked for Medicus/HBOC and Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.
McNutt is a fellow of both the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). She is also actively involved with the Healthcare Information Systems Executives Association. She currently serves on the CHIME board of trustees and is a former director for the HIMSS national board.
McNutt has been nationally recognized for her work. She is the 2002 John Gall CIO of the Year, and received the HIMSS Leadership Award in 2001 and the HIMSS Information Systems Award in 1998. She participated as a faculty member for the CHIME Healthcare CIO Boot Camp 2003-2006. In 2010 McNutt was named a "Rising Star to Watch" by Healthcare IT News.
McNutt has been named one of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare several times. She was also honored among "56 Women Hospital & Health care Leaders to Know" by Becker's Hospital Review magazine.
McNutt currently serves as a member of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council Data Initiative Executive Committee, and a member of the State of Texas' Health Care Information Council Hospital Data Collection Workgroup. She holds a BBA degree in statistics and marketing from the University of Texas at Austin, and has pursued postgraduate studies in management information systems at George Washington University.
President, Methodist Health System Foundation
James “Jim” M. Johnston, became President of Methodist Health System Foundation in November 2016.
Prior to his role at Methodist Foundation, Johnston's 40-year career in the Dallas banking industry started with Republic Bank of Texas where he served in various corporate executive positions. He was subsequently named regional chairman of Frost Bank, and board vice chairman for Bank of Texas.
Johnston, originally from Coleman, Texas, attended Southern Methodist University (SMU) on a football scholarship where he received a BA in Marketing and an MBA in Finance. His involvement with his alma mater has continued including roles as chairman of the SMU Mustang Club, of the Letterman’s Association, of the Planned Giving Council, of the Athletics Hall of Fame, and serves on the Executive Board of the Cox School of Business. He has also served in leadership positions with the Arthritis Foundation of North Texas, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Special Olympics of Texas, and Goodwill Industries of Dallas, and the Goodwill Foundation. He also serves as an elder at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, and on the board of the HPPC Foundation.
Outside of work and community service, Johnston loves spending time with his family: wife Suzanne; daughters Michelle, Chandler, and Cindy; and grandchildren. Johnston also enjoys golfing, traveling, reading, and supporting the SMU Mustangs.
Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Methodist Health System
Alen Brcic serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Methodist Health System. He joined the organization in 2024 with nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare human resources. Prior to coming to Methodist Health System, Brcic held various leadership roles at Vanderbilt Health and Novant Health. Most recently, Brcic served as Chief People Officer at Mercyhealth, a health system that spans seven hospitals, a large medical group, home health & hospice division, and a wholly owned insurance company serving communities northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
Brcic is passionate about healthcare. In addition to his healthcare background, his experience is bolstered by his technology and business acumen, having founded, operated, and successfully sold a technology first professional services company. He received his Bachelor of Science and MBA from Lipscomb University.
Brcic and his wife Irina are blessed with three children, Eliam, Evan, and Aria. In addition to spending time with his family, he is an avid soccer fan.
Chief Medical Officer, Methodist Health System
Martin L. Koonsman, MD, FACS,CPE is Methodist Health System’s Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Koonsman has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years as a general surgeon, and he has an impressive history of leadership with Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
Dr. Koonsman most recently served as president of Methodist Dallas. Prior to being named president, he served as the chief medical officer for the campus, working with all medical staff to advance the quality of care provided and services offered.
Dr. Koonsman graduated from Texas A&M University in 1984 and from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 1988. He then came to Methodist Dallas for a five-year residency in general surgery and stayed with the organization to practice medicine. Dr. Koonsman is a Certified Physician Executive, as designated by the American Association for Physician Leadership.
Dr. Koonsman has served as chair of the department of surgery, president of the Methodist Dallas medical staff, chairman of the corporate medical board for Methodist Health System, member of the board of directors for Methodist Health System, member of the board of directors for the Methodist Patient Centered ACO and member of the board of directors for Dallas Methodist Physicians Network.
Dr. Koonsman is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons, Texas Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society.
Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Executive, Methodist Health System
Jolyn Angus joined the leadership team in August 2020 as SVP and Chief Nursing Executive, poised to preserve Methodist Health System’s position as a leader in nursing clinical excellence, patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and resource stewardship.
After spending her early career as a staff nurse in hospitals in New York and Atlanta, she held various management roles at hospitals across the Southeast, first as a nurse manager, then director, assistant chief nursing officer, and then chief nursing officer. She also served as CNO at hospitals in Florida and California, and as a vice president of hospital operations in Ohio.
Angus holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and a master’s degree
in business administration. She also holds certifications in executive
nursing practice from AONL and ANCC.
Jolyn has been married to her husband Constantine since 1981 and they have
three children and two grandchildren.
President, Methodist Dallas Medical Center
John Phillips is president of Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Prior to coming to Methodist Dallas in 2018, Philips served seven years as president of Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, where he oversaw operations of a 254-bed non-profit acute care hospital with more than 1,000 employees and 200 physicians. Phillips was instrumental in leading and growing the hospital, which achieved Magnet designation for excellence in nursing during his time as president.
In 2017, Philips led Methodist Mansfield Medical Center’s new $11.8-million professional office building, and in 2015, the facility opened the $118-million Amon G. Carter Foundation Heart and Vascular Center and patient tower.
Phillips earned a MBA from Hardin-Simmons University and a Master of Health Care Administration from Trinity University.
President, Methodist Richardson Medical Center
E. Kenneth Hutchenrider joined Methodist Health System as president of Methodist Richardson Medical Center in July 2010.
Prior to joining Methodist, Hutchenrider served as chief executive officer of Community Health Systems’ Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. While at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, he substantially increased financial stability and strengthened the management team and medical staff. Before serving at Galesburg, Mr. Hutchenrider was chief executive officer for Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He has also served in leadership roles at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, Kansas, Columbia Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah, and Humana Hospital in Clear Lake, Texas.
Hutchenrider holds a BA from Texas A&M University and a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
President, Methodist Charlton Medical Center
Michael Stewart assumed his role as President of Methodist Charlton Medical
Center on May 21, 2024. He brings 20 years of healthcare experience to
this role.
Stewart comes to Methodist Charlton from Saline Health System in Benton,
AR where he served as chief executive officer (CEO) since 2018. Before
Saline, he served as CEO of Navarro Regional Hospital (NRH) in Corsicana,
Texas. Ahead of stewarding NRH, Stewart served in multiple leadership
roles at hospitals in Arkansas, California, and Florida.
Preceding his healthcare career, Stewart spent four years in the United
States Air Force where he rose to the rank of Captain. He received his
Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin
and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M
University.
President, Methodist Mansfield Medical Center
Juan Fresquez Jr., MBA, serves Methodist Health System as president of Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. A healthcare leader with more than 30 years’ experience in acute care hospital management, he has demonstrated abilities in the areas of operations, leadership, physician relations, cost management, quality and process improvement, compliance, clinical quality management, and customer service.
During Fresquez’s tenure at Methodist Mansfield, he has led the hospital to achieve the prestigious 5-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in 2020. In August 2020, he guided the opening of Methodist’s first de novo ambulatory surgery center on the Methodist Mansfield campus. And when Methodist Midlothian Medical Center opened its doors November 2020, he became the hospital’s president.
Prior to joining Methodist, Fresquez served in numerous executive roles with Tenet Healthcare in the Texas and Arizona markets, where he was instrumental in improving patient satisfaction, quality, and financial performance.
Fresquz has been married to his wife, Carla, for 32 years and has three grown children. He is active in the community of Mansfield, where he serves on numerous chamber, economic development, and community boards.
President, Methodist Midlothian Medical Center
Jary Ganske serves Methodist Health System as president for Methodist Midlothian Medical Center. A healthcare leader with more than 30 years of senior management experience, he has demonstrated expertise in the areas of financial management, operations, leadership, physician relations, productivity, capital and growth planning, and operating budget.
A native of Waco, Texas, he is a proud graduate of Baylor University and a Certified Public Accountant. Ganske served as Methodist Mansfield’s Finance Officer and Compliance Officer, filling a number of operational roles during the rapid expansion of the facility. He also served as interim president at Methodist Mansfield. Being deeply involved in the multi-year planning process for Methodist Midlothian Medical Center, he is proud to have the opportunity to lead the team as it expands healthcare services into Ellis County.
Prior to joining Methodist Health System in 2012, Ganske served as Vice President of Texas Health Physicians Group, part of Texas Health Resources, and was also the President/CEO of the WRS Group of Companies for 15 years, a recognized international leader in medical products. His professional experience leading multiple healthcare entities includes positions as Senior Vice President, Vice President of Marketing and Development, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and President, as well as Chief Executive Officer.
Ganske has been married for 42 years to his wife, Shirley, and has three children and four grandchildren. They reside in Midlothian and have been active in the community.
President, Methodist Southlake Medical Center
Benson P. Chacko, FACHE, serves as President of Methodist Southlake Medical Center. In his role he provides day to day leadership for the hospital, collaboratively implements strategies, and efficiently manages hospital operations to maximize quality. Chacko's healthcare career spans two decades in various areas to include human resources, project management, ambulatory care, business development & strategy, physician relations and hospital operations. In 2018 he joined Methodist Health System as the Vice President of Operations at the systems’ flagship hospital Methodist Dallas Medical Center (MDMC), a 592-bed tertiary care facility. There he led operational improvements in many areas and expanded key service lines to include the construction of a 36-bed Progressive Care Unit, renovations of multiple patient care units and enhanced ancillary services. In his three years at MDMC he was responsible for implementing $82M of investments to enhance patient care and hospital operations. Through his executive leadership he ensured the delivery of high quality care while maintaining efficient operations. Chacko's passion for the Methodist mission is paramount and with his growth oriented style is committed to Methodist Health System. Prior to joining Methodist, he served in Chief Operating Officer roles in Tenet Healthcare at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, MO and The Hospitals of Providence-Sierra Campus in El Paso, TX. At Sierra Campus he managed a $53M, two-year renovation of the 329-bed tertiary care hospital. He relocated back to the DFW area to serve as the Interim Chief Executive Officer/Chief Operating Officer at Tenet’s joint venture hospital, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Lake Pointe. There he led the organization through a successful Joint Commission Survey, achieved the Leap Frog “A” Rating for the organization, and led the corporate transition from Tenet Healthcare to Baylor Scott & White.
Born and raised in Coppell, TX, Chacko started his career following his mother, a nurse, to work as a junior volunteer at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas, TX. This exposure at an early age defined his career path to serve in healthcare. He holds a Bachelors of Healthcare Administration from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, TX, and Master of Healthcare Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from Texas Women’s University in Dallas. Throughout his career as a healthcare executive, Chacko has continued to find time to serve on professional councils with the Texas Hospital Association and serving for community nonprofits such as The Boys & Girls Club and Center Against Sexual and Family Violence. Finally he’s had the honor of being recognized by the United States Congress for Community Service during his time at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, CA.
Chacko and his wife Manju are blessed with two children and stay busy with the kids’ sports. In addition he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, and attempting to improve his golf game.
President, Methodist Medical Group
John Myers, MD, MS, FACEP, FAAP, serves Methodist Health System as President of Methodist Medical Group and Senior Vice President of Physician Services.
Dr. Myers is an accomplished healthcare executive and physician. As a healthcare executive, he has more than 25 years of leadership experience with a proven track record of successful practice management, execution, and value creation. His passion is developing innovative healthcare solutions focused on helping patients and healthcare professionals achieve their desired outcomes.
Prior to his position with Methodist, Dr. Myers served as the CEO of Envision Healthcare – Central US Division and was the President of Questcare Medical Services, a premier multi-specialty, integrated, physician practice and healthcare management organization with more than 1,100 physician providing care throughout multiple states.
Dr. Myers has been practicing medicine for more than 25 years. He is a board-certified Emergency Physician, Pediatric Emergency Physician, and Sports Medicine specialist. His medical career has been focused on providing state-of-the-art care for patients with all extremes of illness and injury in some of the busiest Emergency Departments in the US. He also currently works with the NFL as a visiting team medical liaison and neurological consultant, providing sideline care at Dallas Cowboys games.
Dr. Myers received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Texas Christian University and Doctor of Medicine at Texas Tech University. He then completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of California, Irvine, and a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. In 2009, he received a Master of Science in Healthcare Management degree at the University of Texas at Dallas, where he graduated with honors.
Dr. Myers is a fitness advocate and enthusiast. He has completed multiple marathons, triathlons and Ironman races. He is a Medical Director for USA Triathlon, and as triathlete himself, has competed on the world stage for Team USA.
Dr. Myers has been married to Margaret for 31 years. Together they have two children, Madison and Jack.
