Take a guided tour through Methodist Midlothian's Labor and Delivery unit and learn about our special features and amenities.
When the moment arrives, moms-to-be will labor, deliver, and recover all in the same room. The rooms include several features for comfort, such as a TV, recliner, safe for personal belongings, Keurig machine, and refrigerator.
These spacious rooms are designed to include the family. Each is equipped with a couch that converts to a bed for the mom’s designated support person. The unit’s waiting room has access to an outdoor lounge, which allows family members to get some fresh air without having to leave the floor.
After birth, the care team is focused on helping moms and babies bond during these first important days. Moms are encouraged to place their babies skin-to-skin, and nurses provide care for both mom and baby in the same room. For moms wanting to breastfeed, lactation support helps them get off to a good start.
Families have access to an option for newborn photography on-site. And, as the unit approaches its opening date, the staff is dedicated to finding even more ways to help make each family’s moment special.
