What is an MRI?
An MRI uses radio frequency waves (rather than radiation) and a strong magnetic field to produce clear and detailed pictures of internal organs and tissues.
Who needs an MRI?
MRI can help diagnose a broad range of disorders and diseases including cancer, heart and blood vessel disease, stroke, neurological disorders, and disorders of the joints or musculoskeletal system. Because it doesn’t use radiation, MRI is often preferred for examining the reproductive system, pelvis, hips, or bladder.
An MRI must be ordered by a physician.
