Robotic-assisted surgery
Robotic-assisted, minimally invasive surgical treatments provide many benefits
compared to traditional open incision techniques. At Methodist Mansfield,
we utilize the da Vinci® Surgical System for the following gynecological
procedures:
-
Hysterectomy: This surgery removes the uterus. Your doctor may recommend a
hysterectomy to help ease pelvic pain and other symptoms caused by pelvic conditions
(like endometriosis and uterine cancer) that don’t improve with
other treatments.
-
Myomectomy: We perform a
myomectomy to remove fibroids (non-cancerous growths) and restore the health of the uterus.
-
Oophorectomy: This surgery removes one or both ovaries. Your doctor may recommend an
oophorectomy to treat endometriosis or to remove abnormal growths (both
cancerous and noncancerous).
-
Sacrocolpopexy: We perform this surgery to restore the natural position of the organs
in the pelvis. Your doctor may recommend a
sacrocolpopexy if you have pelvic organ prolapse. This condition occurs when the muscles
of the pelvis become weak, resulting in one or more organs of the pelvis
falling below their normal position. We also use this surgery to treat
vaginal vault prolapse. This happens when the top part of the vagina falls
and protrudes through the opening of the vagina.
