The Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas Hospital Association recognize Methodist Mansfield as a Texas Ten Step facility for breastfeeding care and support. We’re committed to providing comprehensive maternity care by offering breastfeeding classes, breastfeeding support groups, and advanced lactation support.

Methodist Mansfield is a designated drop-off location for Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas. Women who aren’t able to breastfeed, and who match certain criteria, may be eligible to receive donated breast milk.

Dedicated quiet time for mothers and infants

After giving birth, we know it’s important to rest, recover, and bond in a peaceful environment. That’s why we offer quiet time for the first 30 minutes following birth and then every day from 1 to 3 p.m. and 1 to 3 a.m.

During quiet time, visitors are not allowed unless medically necessary or invited by mom. Quiet time is intended to:

  • Offer an extended period of rest
  • Decrease postpartum sleep deprivation
  • Promote bonding between mom and baby, and dad and baby
  • Allow moms to breastfeed without interruption
  • Help families transition from hospital schedule to home schedule

Specialized Newborn and Care

Sometimes, newborns and infants need additional medical care and support. We have a designated level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to assist with high-risk deliveries and provide exceptional critical care for newborns.

Highlights of newborn care in our NICU include:

  • Neonatal respiratory therapy: Our NICU team includes respiratory therapists who specialize in improving the respiratory health of premature and critically ill babies.
  • Robotic telemedicine: We collaborate with subspecialists using robotic telemedicine. Using robotic telemedicine, subspecialists at other hospitals can see and assess newborns and infants in real-time, without the need for transport.
  • High-tech NICU live-streaming: At Methodist Mansfield, we use the AngelEye Health CameraSystem™ so parents and families can stay connected to their newborns during their stay in the NICU.
