  • Atrial fibrillation (AFib), tachycardia, and other forms of arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats)
  • Coronary artery disease or CAD (a narrowing or a complete blockage of the blood vessels that bring blood to the heart)
  • Deep vein thrombosis or DVT and other types of peripheral vascular disease or PVD (a narrowing or complete blockage of blood vessels outside of the heart)
  • Heart attack and other cardiac emergencies

Cardiovascular Diagnostic Procedures and Treatments We Offer

The team of cardiology specialists at Methodist Mansfield uses a wide range of outpatient and inpatient procedures to diagnose and treat conditions of the heart and blood vessels.

Cardiac catheterization

Cardiac catheterization, also known as a cardiac “cath” procedure, is a minimally invasive imaging procedure. It’s used to diagnose and treat conditions that affect the blood vessels of the heart, including coronary artery disease and atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in the arteries).

Peripheral vascular intervention

Peripheral vascular intervention procedures are minimally invasive techniques used to diagnose and treat conditions that affect the blood vessels outside the heart and brain. Our specialists use peripheral vascular interventions to identify, diagnose, and open blockages in the arteries. These procedures improve blood circulation and prevent complications caused by reduced blood flow.

Electrophysiology

Electrophysiology procedures are techniques used to diagnose and treat heart rhythm disorders. Our cardiologists use electrophysiology to evaluate electrical activity in the heart and treat irregular heart rhythm issues.

Open heart procedures

Open heart procedures are sometimes necessary to treat severe or complex heart conditions. If treatment with a minimally invasive technique isn’t possible, your cardiologist may recommend open heart surgery.

Open heart procedures we offer include:

  • Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG): This procedure involves taking a healthy blood vessel from another area of the body and using it to bypass blocked arteries.
  • Valve repair surgery: These procedures are performed to repair or replace heart valves that aren’t working properly.
  • Atrial septal defect repair: This procedure closes a hole in wall of muscle that separates the two upper chambers of the heart.
