Physician monitoring*
Physician-supervised weight loss with regular monitoring ensures that any underlying conditions are managed. Your physician will assess health, and identify and monitor health conditions that can contribute to weight gain or impact weight loss. If appropriate, they can also prescribe weight loss medications, as needed; monitor weight loss; and order labs.
Your regular PCP or specialist will need to submit a referral to the Weight Loss and Wellness Program on your behalf. As part of the program, you will continue seeing your provider throughout your weight loss journey and submit your regular copay or cash payment to them. If you do not have a regular PCP or specialist, we can refer you to one.

Dieticians utilize scientific background to understand the science behind obesity and the food and nutrition expertise to assist clients with making the necessary lifestyle changes. They educate you on healthy food options, set realistic goals, and provide feedback and accountability.

Fitness coaches help achieve long-term health and fitness goals. They coach their clients to develop a healthy lifestyle and activity plans that include exercise, workout programs, and goal setting (Douglas, 2023).

Body composition analyses measure weight, muscle mass, body fat, and water content. This enables you and your weight loss team to better create tailored plans and track progress (InBody USA, 2023).
As part of the Weight Loss and Wellness Program, you will receive between 2 to 5 InBody scans, depending on the program length you choose.
Peer support meetings
Support groups provide a system of accountability. Members often establish goals collectively and regularly check in with one another to hold each other responsible, for their actions. This sense of accountability boosts motivation levels and helps individuals stay on track with their weight management plans (AHA Physician Alliance, 2023). Patients who attended support groups had significantly improved glycemic control and decreased obesity compared to those who did not (Ufholz, 2020).
As part of the Weight Loss and Wellness Program, you will have access to virtual and in-person support group sessions featuring different topics, speakers, and activities.
Weight loss medication*
Weight loss medications can help patients lose 5-12% of their total weight, which has been shown to lower blood pressure, blood sugar, and triglyceride levels (Ryan, 2017; Ghusn, 2022). Additionally, weight loss medications taken after an initial weight loss brought about by diet and lifestyle changes can result in significant additional weight reduction (Wadden, 2023). There are various pharmacotherapy options available, both short and long-term, and your PCP or specialist will help you determine what’s right for you. Your PCP or specialist can submit your prescription to the Methodist Community Pharmacy (Dallas) or MTM Clinic for faster prior authorization; increased availability of medications with shortages, mail delivery options, and discounted cash prices. Our Weight Loss and Wellness Program team can also help you navigate prescription discount-assistance programs.
