The Joint Academy at Methodist Dallas offers "students" who are scheduled for hip or knee replacement surgery, a free educational program to prepare them both mentally and physically for surgery. The program was designed to educate, guide, and connect patients in order to manage expectations and provide the best possible experience for surgery and recovery.
The program, VOX OrthoCare, coordinates the physician’s care instructions with an easy-to-navigate, web-based program that guides and tracks patients from diagnosis to recovery. This engaging program teaches patients how to be an active partner in their own care by providing the right information at the right time and by keeping them connected throughout their surgery and recovery pathway. Patients will receive easy-to-navigate, education and videos in advance of surgery to prepare and better understand their procedure. The program can be completed at your own pace, at home, with a family or friend, and will help to understand what will happen before, during, and after surgery. Following surgery, patients and their families receive action steps to aid in recovery, alerts to ensure compliance, and progress reports and messaging to stay connected with the physician and care team.
