Methodist Dallas has been designated a Texas Ten Step Hospital – the fifth consecutive year the hospital has achieved the designation awarded to birthing facilities providing optimal care to improving breastfeeding outcomes by the Texas Hospital Association and the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Methodist Dallas Medical Center was one of only three winners nationwide from a pool of nearly 400 eligible hospitals for excellence in both quality of care and operational efficiency.
Methodist Dallas has met qualifications for recognition by Aetna for their Early Elective Delivery Infant Safety program for facilities that have demonstrated their commitment to infant safety by establishing safety guidelines for elective deliveries prior to 39 weeks and have implemented a quality improvement program.
Methodist Dallas was selected to participate in Best Fed Beginnings, a first-of-its-kind national effort to significantly improve breastfeeding rates in states where rates are currently the lowest. Best Fed Beginnings seeks to boost breastfeeding rates by implementing a model for maternity services in U.S. hospitals that better supports a new mother’s choice to breastfeed. The National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality (NICHQ), with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is leading a nationwide effort in partnership with Baby-Friendly USA to help hospitals improve maternity care and increase the number of Baby-Friendly hospitals in the United States.
