Thank you for your interest in the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, Texas! Methodist Charlton cares for the vibrant population in Southern Dallas County, and is a modern teaching, acute care community hospital nationally recognized in many specialties. Our Methodist Charlton Pharmacy Department mission statement is: “To provide compassionate, quality healthcare through continual dedication to optimal medication therapy, education, and service.”
As a pharmacy resident at Methodist Charlton, you will be part of a department with a family culture that strives to optimize and advance the care of our patients. The purpose of our program is to build upon each resident’s pharmacy education foundation and develop a diverse skill set for clinical pharmacists capable of caring for patients in a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient acuity levels. With a variety of pharmacy roles including pharmacy specialists, clinical pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians, you will be a part of a department that is highly integrated as part of the care team. Upon graduation, residents will have acquired the skill set required for achieving board certification in pharmacotherapy and be able to successfully enter postgraduate year two pharmacy residency training if so desired.
Our residents interact with students from several colleges of pharmacy across the State of Texas. Layered learning is a strong aspect of the teaching opportunities responsibilities of the resident, and they will have the opportunity to precept pharmacy students during their residency. Residents will also earn a teaching certificate during their residency year.
