About Mohammad A. Kawsara, MD
Mohammad Kawsara, MD, is an interventional cardiologist who has been in practice since 2010. Board certified and fellowship trained, Dr. Kawsara specializes in the management of cardiovascular diseases with a focus on complex coronary interventions, cardiac mechanical support devices, and minimally invasive percutaneous procedures for both valvular and non-valvular structural heart diseases.
His expertise includes trans catheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), trans catheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER), perivalvular leak interventions, left atrial appendage occlusion, alcohol septal ablation, and the closure of septal defects such as patent foramen ovale, atrial, and ventricular septal defects. He also intervenes on patients with acute pulmonary embolism using percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy and thrombolysis.
Dr. Kawsara obtained his medical degree from Aleppo University. After medical school, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Charleston Area Medical Center, West Virginia University. He then pursued specialized training through his dual Fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at West Virginia University. Dr. Kawsara has made significant contributions to the field, with more than 65 peer-reviewed publications, a book chapter, and a patent to his name. He also serves as a reviewer for multiple cardiovascular journals.
When Dr. Kawsara is not at work, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and outdoor activities like hiking and rafting. He is married to his wife, Reem, and they have three children.
