About Derek E. Williams, MD
Dr. Williams is fellowship trained in general and minimally invasive cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. He obtained his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, St Louis, MO, and completed his residency in General Surgery and his fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX. Dr. Williams is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Williams’ clinical interests include coronary revascularization, valvular heart disease, minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, and robot-assisted thoracic surgery.
Williams is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. He is an experienced lecturer and presenter and has contributed numerous articles to medical journals.
Dr. Williams’ practice is located on the campus of Methodist Richardson Medical Center, with satellite offices at Methodist Charlton Medical Center and Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
In his free time, Dr. Williams enjoys golfing, triathlons, and spending time with his family.
